Nathaniel Jones is an award-winning hair and makeup designer, educator, and theatrical wig specialist whose work bridges the worlds of beauty, fashion, and live performance. Recognized for his innovative artistry and meticulous attention to detail, Nathaniel has spent more than two decades building a reputation for excellence, creativity, and leadership within the entertainment industry. His professional journey began at Dudley Cosmetology University, where he graduated in 2003, laying the foundation for a career rooted in technical precision and artistic expression. He later earned dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Business Management and Marketing from Winston-Salem State University, combining creative talent with a strong understanding of business strategy. Committed to continuous growth, Nathaniel has completed advanced training with leading industry brands, including Avlon Industries, Pravana, Design Essentials & Matrix, while studying under some of the world’s most respected hair artists. His expertise spans custom wig making, textured hair, period styling, hair extensions, lace systems, editorial styling, and innovative color design. This diverse skill set has led to collaborations with renowned artists and productions, including Erica Campbell of the Grammy Award-winning duo Mary Mary, New York Fashion Week, Charlotte International Fashion Week, and Full Figured Fashion Week in New York City. Nathaniel’s passion for storytelling through hair and makeup naturally evolved into a distinguished career in theatre. His design credits include productions such as Passing Strange, City of Angels, and Arden of Faversham, while his production experience extends to Broadway and national touring productions including Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Death of a Salesman, Moulin Rouge! The Musical, and Some Like It Hot. His work is celebrated for seamlessly blending technical craftsmanship with bold artistic vision, creating character-driven designs that elevate every performance. To further refine his artistry, Nathaniel earned a Master of Fine Arts in Design and Production from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA), one of the nation’s premier conservatories for the performing arts. Today, Nathaniel serves as the Wig & Makeup Supervisor for the First National Tour of Alicia Keys’ Tony Award-winning musical, Hell’s Kitchen, where he leads the department responsible for maintaining the production’s intricate hair and makeup designs across North America. Through his leadership, mentorship, and commitment to excellence, Nathaniel continues to inspire the next generation of artists while redefining the standards of hair and makeup design for the stage.
